Flying through Manayunk, enjoying the weather, when suddenly...that's right...idiot pulls right out in front of me. Lock my legs, squeeze the brakes, but given that I'm 200 lbs and carrying 35, I'm not stopping on a dime. I'm sure it was funny watching me sliding sideways into the back of that van.
I did learn two things however. Minivans are squishy and some clueless drivers aren't asshats. The guy was quite nice, genuinely didn't see me, and gave me free reign over his first aid kit. Not that I need much more than a gauze pad for a slight scrape on the elbow (Minivans are squishy remember!) Of course this doesn't excuse not seeing me. My profile with a full bag is bigger than most motrocycles and my clothing is very bright...
So yeah, given the number of close calls I've had, especially in Manayunk, it was only a matter of time before it would happen and I wouldn't have anywhere to go.' Usually, I'd just hop on the curb on squeeze between the vehicles, but the nice weather meant lots of pedestrians on the sidewalk and a jam packed street, leaving me with no option but a face plant.
Good news is I'm fine...
